Enjoy the Four Seasons in Akita
Akita Prefecture is a prefecture located in the northern Tohoku region, facing the Sea of Japan. It takes about 4 hours to reach Akita Prefecture from Tokyo via the special Akita Shinkansen bullet train line. This prefecture is known for the famously loyal Akita dog, as well as a variety of breathtaking locations such as the Shirakami Mountains, which are a World Heritage Site, the Oga Peninsula with its strange rock formations, and Lake Tazawa, the deepest lake in Japan. Other recommended attractions include the town of Kakunodate, also referred to as ‘The Little Kyoto of Tohoku’, the Akita Kanto festival and the Omagari Fireworks Festival. In addition, the Japanese sake and rice produced in Akita is considered to be more tasty due to how enriching its local water is.
