Kagoshima Prefecture
Dedicated to Ninigi-no-Mikoto, the protagonist of the descent of the sun goddess’s grandson myth (Tenson Korin), Kirishima Jingu Shrine saw its Main Hall, Offering Hall, and Worship Hall designated as National Treasures in 2026. The surrounding area offers rich natural scenery, including vivid autumn foliage spots and the Shinsuikyo Gorge, home to stunning columnar jointing formed by volcanic activity. Miyazaki Prefecture
Takachiho Gorge is a breathtaking canyon formed when pyroclastic flows from ancient eruptions of Mt. Aso streamed along the Gokase River and cooled rapidly, creating magnificent cliffs with dramatic columnar jointing. During the autumn leaf season, the gorge glows with even brilliant color. Here, visitors can also experience Takachiho Kagura, particularly the renowned ‘Takachiho Night Kagura,’ which is designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.
Oita Prefecture

Starting September 14, Huis Ten Bosch will elevate its ‘Shower of Lights’ night show into a grander experience. Combining breathtaking live vocals, instrumentals, and dazzling lights, the upgraded show introduces guest artists for even richer melodies alongside newly expanded, large-scale light displays.
Saga Prefecture
Saga comes alive in autumn with unmissable events like the Saga International Balloon Fiesta and the Karatsu Kunchi festival. Visitors can take in magnificent autumn foliage at Kunenan and Mifuneyama Rakuen, or relax with a hot spring tour across Ureshino, Takeo, and Furuyu Onsens. From autumn through winter, Saga offers a wonderful mix of stunning views and deep relaxation.
Fukuoka Prefecture
Tonkotsu Ramen
Tonkotsu ramen is one of Fukuoka’s most celebrated culinary specialties. Alongside the classic rich pork bone broth, the local food scene now features “non-tonkotsu” varieties made with chicken or seafood, as well as plant-based “tonkotsu-style” ramen tailored for vegetarian, vegan, and Muslim diners.
